…for He is our God.  We are the people he watches over, the sheep under his care.  Oh, that you would listen to his voice today!” (Psalm 95:7) In the bible, people are often referred to as sheep. For good reason! Sheep have many limitations. And when compared to God–people do too. And God’s okay with that. He doesn’t want know-it-alls who don’t need Him. He’s looking for sheep who want to join Him. In this verse we learn the Shepherd speaks to His sheep. His voice speaks with conviction when we do something wrong. His voice speaks with wisdom when we don’t know what to do. His voice speaks with comfort when it hurts really bad.  And here’s the dealio: God never stops voicing. We just (sometimes) stop listening.  Man, who would want to miss the voice of God? One day, when I finally humbled myself and admitted I was like a dumb sheep in need of a Shepherd–is when I was really–at my smartest. 🙂
