photoIf I were to ever get a tat–which will never happen because I abhor needles–I’d get “I.N.A.M.”…

Awhile back, I was pretty confident of me, my position and my contribution to this world. Then, due to a series of circumstances (some my fault, some not) it all vanished. See, when we make it all about us–and we lose ourselves–we are left with nothing.  Jesus said (and modeled) that we need to deny ourselves. (Luke 9:23). It was NOT about Jesus when he stepped out of perfect Heaven to enter broken Earth. It was not about Jesus when He got down on a dirty floor and washed the dirty feet of his friends. And it wasn’t about Jesus when He mercilessly hung on a cross.  I think one of the best things I’ve learned as a leader–is to lead less, serve more. We are never more like Jesus then when it’s not about us. This acronym works in all areas of life, but it’s hard to apply because it means having a selfless heart in a selfish body. But if Jesus is in your heart–you can serve others with it. Getting back to the tat. I made one with marker.  Inscribed on my hand was “I.N.A.M.” — a daily remind that until it’s not about Jesus (which is never), it’s not about me.
