My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. (Galatians 2)
Ability may take us up, but humility let’s us stay there. The minute I let humility be replaced with ego, there’s a good chance God is preparing me to take a downward trip (“pride comes before the fall”). The greatest Leader of ALL time never had to “lego his ego.” He led strong with 100% humility. And just because we don’t have ego doesn’t mean we don’t have influence. And just because we don’t have ego doesn’t mean we don’t have strength. And just because we don’t have ego doesn’t mean we don’t have success. Ego is a leadership killer. Humility is a leadership maker. Famous saying of the greatest Leader of all time were things like “the first shall be last,” “love your enemies,” and “lay down your life for…” Confident statements, boldly made from a humble heart. Ego has never gotten me anywhere except down. And ego is ugly. With ego, our heads are the first things to enter a room…not our hearts. And ego isn’t one of those ‘sexy’ sins. Nobody goes around confessing, “I’m so full of myself.” If you struggle with ego (like I have) know that the greatest Leader of all time can help you. It’s never too late to “lego your ego” and be humble.
