When I was 8 years old, I wrote a suicide letter and mailed it to my grandma. Thus began a life filed with counseling and mental affliction. I want to write a very honest post to those who struggle with it too. Depression, anxiety, bipolarity, etc.–are legit! They are sicknesses in the mind–not to be distinguished from illnesses in the body. They truly affect people’s brains, thus, their lives and the lives around them. But let me tell you one thing I’ve learned: With God, ALL things are possible. And apart from God, I can do nothing. These two verses have been the cornerstone of my life (well-lived) with mental affliction. God is sovereign, perfect in all His ways. He created me and He knew what He was doing. And He knew I would have what I have. Many of us are born with “thorns in our sides,” but God isn’t taken aback. And God doesn’t give more than a life can bear with Him. Have mental affliction? Yes, it’s tough. Have God? Yes, it’s still tough….but not impossible. You got this. Don’t give up. I hope this encourages someone today.
