imagesToday I read in 1 Samuel 1:18, “Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad.” Let me break it down for you. Hannah was married and couldn’t have children. To add insult to injury, this girl was always publicly mocking and demeaning her for it. A priest found Hannah at church crying in deep anguish. The bible says her anguish was so intense, the priest accused her of being drunk. But after conversing with her, he came to understand her pain. And on behalf of God, prophesied that one day her desire for a child would come true. And THAT’S when, “she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad.” What stood out to me was she recovered from her “trauma drama” on the HOPE that one day, some day, her desire would be fulfillled. When? She didn’t know. How? She didn’t know. Where? She didn’t know. Hannah didn’t know ANY of the details of her desire coming to fruition. But she knew the One who made promises and didn’t break them. And on THAT she was no longer sad. What an amazing woman. I want to be like that. God may not reveal the how’s, if’s, and’s, where’s and when’s of my heart’s desire, but at the end of the day, God ALWAYS has my best interest in mind. Yours too.
