imageMy battle with mental wellness is no secret. Let the records show, I’m not a licensed professional or expert, but just a client. πŸ™‚ One thing I’ve come to experience, understand and now advocate is that my brain is an organ. It is in the same category as a heart, a kidney, a lung. Sometimes, organs get sick. The brain is no exception. Sometimes we treat a sick brain with medicine or counseling. But sadly, sometimes we treat it with stigma, stereotype and denial. I pray that God use me (with a hurting brain, a soft heart and a big mouth) to raise awareness about the brain, it’s importance and it’s vulnerability to sickness. What is sick can not always be cured. But that has never stopped me. I understand my weakness, but it is not my master. My mind is not my master. It is an organ in the masterpiece God has made in me. So I do the best I can with what I have. I take medicine, I get counseling, I stay unashamedly close to God. Many people struggle with a sick brain in silence. I hope you know you can bring it out into the light and that you CAN do great things! I hope this encourages someone today.
