photoWhen I was 8 years old, my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Cousins, saw something in me I didn’t. She saw a girl who wasn’t afraid to stand up in front of others with expression and without inhibition. So she casted me in two school performances, and picked me to be the sole class-ambassador to a collegiate Creative Writers workshop. It’s a good thing to find something good in someone young and help them see it in themselves. As you know, what Mrs. Cousins saw in me, then, I am still doing with great joy now. This year, Andy is in 3rd grade too. He has a new music teacher who saw something in Andy, and helped Andy see it in himself: a boy who wasn’t afraid to stand up in front of others with expression and without inhibition. So this year, Andy will be in his first Christmas play with a speaking part! This pic means a lot to me, because the investment Miss Stephanie is making, here, could be what Andy ends up doing—with great joy–for years. I love it when a  teacher, a child, and God, collide. Every time it happens, it’s a beautiful collision that can change a life…and the world around it.
