I often tweet, “live like nobody is noticing and God is applauding.” It has rung true in our home–and not because of me. Over the last month, Raul has made a few dinners, assisted with decking the tree and planting Christmas flowers and worked on homework with the boys. I didn’t nag. I didn’t ask. I didn’t even hint. He just did it. Acts of service–without anyone noticing, without anything in it for himself. The bible talks about this. In Matthew 23:11, Jesus said, “But the greatest among you shall be your servant.” I’ve always known that Raul was the greatest among the two of us. But in the last few days I’ve witnessed WHY. Because of Raul’s “attitude of servitude,” he makes a good leader in our home & a good one outside of it. And my heart treasures the fact that DJ and Andy see great leadership through gracious service. I pray they grow to follow in his Cuban footsteps.
