We have bad days, bad months, and some of us have bad years. I know this is going to sound contradictory, but when it is dark, there is still light. The bible says, “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” So YES, we have dark seasons, but with God, we still have light. We must look for it. It will be what keeps us going. When I am in dark seasons, I look for the light in the things I am thankful for. If you are in a dark season, start a thankful journal. MAKE yourself pen 3 things you are thankful for every day. But Heather, I’m not thankful for anything, everything has gone bad around me. Maybe. But did you sleep in shelter last night? Did you have access to drinking water today? Did you utilize indoor plumbing? Did you have breath? Do you have sight to see this blog post? Do you live in a country free of oppression? If you need to spend time in church this weekend, are you free to walk into it? These are literally some of the things I have given God thanks for when it was very dark. Friend, I’m sorry it is dark for you, but I know if you look, you will see light.
P.S. I am thankful for you.
