“Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or awesome for me…” David, the 131st Psalm
David ticked and tocked just like the rest of us. But one of his get-it factors was he didn’t get hung up on gigundous matters. But, Heather, what about being aggressive, assertive, and ambitious? Yes, those are great leadership buzz words—but to what extent? Are they worth the cost of sanity? health? the deterioration of the soul? the breakdown of the family? And Heather, what about the factor of faith? Yes, it is true, we can “move mountains” when we pray and give concerns to God. But often, we pray but we forget to leave the concerns at His feet. We are Hu-mans, not Super–mans. When our concerns go past our human capabilities, it is fruitless to still try to be in control. It is God’s job to concern himself with matters within our human capabilities and beyond. That’s why He’s God and we aren’t. Is there something you are too concerned with? Today, if you can admit this to yourself…would you consider giving it to God?
