king_of_the_mountain_titleEver play “King of the Mountain?” I remember playing it as a kid, I also remember never being strong enough to make it to the top and being declared King. There was a time in my past when I thought I was king of a mountain. I had a high position, an influential voice, a seat at the round-table, and unlimited access to the big-king. I don’t recall walking around proclaiming I was all-that, but actions speak louder than words. Then one day, I lost my balance and fell off the mountain. When we get removed as king of any mountain, it’d be one thing if the mountain crumbled underneath. That kind of fall would be slow, evolving and predictable. But this wasn’t the case. One day the mountain I stood on was gone. If you can relate I just want you to know: that if Christ is the center of our lives, “we get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.”  To fall from the mountain is humbling, trying, confusing and defeating. But it is not destroying. Maybe God let me fall so God could lift me back up and have his rightful place in my life as the true King. I hope this encourages someone today. And please know, it is never too late to give God his rightful place and let Him lift you up.
