ruby-slippersIn the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy clicks her heels and recites, “there’s no place like home.” You see, home for her was Kansas. Dorothy wanted to go back. Back to normal, familiarity, comfort. This makes a nice movie. But it wouldn’t make my reality show. Even if I could click my heels, I wouldn’t go back. Where I was, was where I needed to be. But God led me out. And He knows best. In the bible, Paul knew a lot about this and he said, “I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don’t feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead, I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven.”  A few operative phrases, here in God’s word are: “keep on,” “forget what is behind,” “run toward.” This is proof enough for me to not look back and wish I was there. If I WISH to click my heels and go back, I MISS the chance to lace up my Nikes and run forward. No offense, Dorothy! Love the movie, but I’ll live like Paul. 🙂
