My friend, Emily Cummins, out of Central Christian in Las Vegas, is my guest blogger tonight and I’m REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT SO I’M GONNA TYPE IT IN CAPS! Without further ado, a 1-minute post on why she’s lacing her boots:
I’ve been thinking about markers & milestones a lot lately. Often, we establish road markers to make the path in front of us clear–we’re memorializing what’s behind & claiming what’s ahead. Jeremiah 31:21-22 says, “Set up signposts to mark your trip home. Get a good map. Study the road conditions. The road out is the road back…how long will you flit here & there, indecisive? How long before you make up your fickle mind? God will create a new thing in this land: a transformed woman will embrace the transforming God!” Markers are really our way of celebrating, growing, moving forward & becoming more of who God made us to be. They’re symbols of transformation & reminders to stay rooted in what you believe. I think transformation is all about putting your stake in the ground, claiming victory over your past & anticipating the path ahead. It’s about embracing the road you left behind, but not forgetting what brought you to this point in time. It’s a choice to lace up your boots, brush the dirt off your face & declare yourself to be the beloved warrior God already designed you to be. Personally, I’m setting up my markers…and I’m lacing up my boots.
